Built by Veterans, for Veterans

Two competitors. One realization. A better way to serve.

Veterans Direct Mortgages was founded by U.S. Marine Corps veteran Renaldo Wilson and U.S. Army veteran Javier Marino — two experienced mortgage and real estate professionals united by a shared mission: to serve veterans and active-duty military families with the education, honesty, and guidance they deserve.

With a combined 16 years in the real estate and mortgage industries, Renaldo and Javier spent years building their careers as competitors. Along the way, they both recognized the same problem: too many veterans were receiving incomplete information, being placed into the wrong loan programs, paying unnecessary fees, or missing opportunities because no one took the time to properly explain their VA home loan benefit.

They ultimately realized they could make a greater impact working together than competing against one another. Veterans Direct Mortgages was created from that decision.

Their approach goes beyond issuing a pre-approval letter. Every client receives personalized guidance covering VA eligibility, entitlement, credit, income, buying power, estimated payments, cash-to-close, available strategies, and the steps required to successfully purchase a home.

As veterans themselves, Renaldo and Javier understand the importance of preparation, accountability, clear communication, and taking care of the people beside them. Those principles are at the center of every client relationship and every loan this team handles. Whether assisting a first-time homebuyer, an active-duty family preparing for a PCS or EAS, or an experienced veteran purchasing another property, the mission stays the same: simplify the process, protect the veteran’s interests, and provide a clear path toward homeownership.

Here, veterans are not treated like transactions. They are treated like members of the team.

Two veterans. One mission. A better way to serve.

Renaldo Wilson, Co-Founder at Veterans Direct Mortgages

U.S. Marine Corps Veteran

Renaldo Wilson

Co-Founder

NMLS #1921615·CA DRE #02096459

Renaldo Wilson is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Mortgage Loan Officer, Realtor, and co-founder of Veterans Direct Mortgages — a company built to help veterans and active-duty service members confidently navigate the path to homeownership.

After transitioning from the military and establishing himself in both real estate and mortgage lending, Renaldo saw a major gap in the home-buying process. Too many veterans were either unaware of the benefits available to them or had received incomplete and inaccurate information about how the VA loan works. Some believed they needed a large down payment. Others assumed their credit, income, or previous use of the VA loan automatically prevented them from buying. Many simply didn't know where to begin.

That is why he helped build the company around an education-first approach. Through a structured, one-on-one VA loan consultation, Renaldo walks veterans through eligibility, entitlement, buying power, estimated monthly payments, cash-to-close, credit considerations, and available financing strategies — replacing confusion with a practical plan for moving forward.

As both a loan officer and a Realtor, Renaldo knows that securing financing is only one part of becoming a homeowner. Veterans also need someone who understands the housing market, contract negotiations, VA appraisal requirements, seller concerns, and how to structure a competitive offer.

Outside of mortgage lending and real estate, Renaldo is a devoted father, mentor, and youth basketball coach, passionate about his faith, his family, and creating opportunities for the next generation.

Javier Marino, Co-Founder at Veterans Direct Mortgages

U.S. Army Veteran

Javier Marino

Co-Founder

NMLS #1572975·CA DRE #02084405

Javier Marino is a U.S. Army veteran, mortgage broker, and co-founder of Veterans Direct Mortgages, built with one mission: to help veterans and active-duty service members understand and maximize the home loan benefit they earned through their service.

After transitioning out of the military and building his career in the mortgage industry, Javier recognized a major problem — many veterans never take the first step toward homeownership because they don't know where to start. The VA loan is one of the most powerful benefits available, but between eligibility, entitlement, credit, income, VA guidelines, closing costs, and understanding what you can actually afford, it is easy to feel overwhelmed before you ever apply.

That is why he developed a structured, one-on-one VA loan consultation conducted over Zoom. Instead of a quick phone call followed by a pre-approval letter, Javier walks veterans through their financing step by step: how the VA loan works, buying power, estimated payments, cash-to-close, available strategies, and what needs to happen next. The goal is simple — take something that feels complicated and make it easy to understand.

Outside of mortgage lending, Javier is a husband, father of two, and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and coach. The same principles he values on the mats and at home carry into his business: discipline, preparation, accountability, and taking care of the people beside you.

Javaze Lanier McDonald, Loan Officer at Veterans Direct Mortgages

Veteran

Javaze Lanier McDonald

Loan Officer

NMLS #2781836

After transitioning out of the military, Javaze noticed a gap that mirrored what he had seen in the service: people making major decisions without fully understanding what they were signing up for. In the mortgage world, that shows up as clients chasing the lowest rate without understanding the actual financial implications of the decision in front of them.

That is the problem he built his business to solve. His approach — "learn before you borrow" — puts education before the sale. Rather than rushing clients to a pre-approval letter, he walks them through what the numbers actually mean, what their options are, and what the decision in front of them will really cost or save them over time.

Javaze focuses on VA and FHA loans for veterans and first-time buyers, along with conventional and investment lending. He also works alongside family law attorneys to help clients understand the financial implications of housing decisions during major life transitions such as divorce — a lane most loan officers overlook entirely.

For Javaze, this work is personal. It is about making sure the people he serves, especially fellow veterans, are not left to figure out one of life's biggest decisions on their own.

Savanna Damato, Loan Partner at Veterans Direct Mortgages

VA Loan Team

Savanna Damato

Loan Partner

Savanna Damato is a Loan Partner with Veterans Direct Mortgages, with more than six years of experience across the mortgage and real estate industries. She has worked from nearly every angle of the business — Loan Officer Assistant, processor, recruiting, licensed real estate agent, and supporting companies as they build stronger teams, systems, and operations.

That range gives her a clear understanding of what happens behind the scenes of a successful transaction: the importance of a well-structured file, clear communication, strong processes, and anticipating problems before they become obstacles. Working closely with loan officers, borrowers, real estate professionals, and internal teams has taught her how interconnected every part of a transaction truly is.

One of the parts of her role she values most is supporting loan officers with their files so they can spend more time doing what they do best: building relationships, serving their clients, and growing their business. Detail-oriented, solution-driven, and proactive, she believes great support means understanding the bigger picture and staying ahead of the process.

Cesar Arciniega, Loan Officer at Veterans Direct Mortgages

U.S. Marine Corps Veteran

Cesar Arciniega

Loan Officer

NMLS #2858984

Cesar Arciniega is a United States Marine Corps veteran rooted in North County San Diego. Growing up there, he learned the value of community, resilience, and hard work early — and San Diego's military presence inspired a calling larger than himself: a 20-year career in the Marine Corps.

Those two decades gave him firsthand experience with the personal sacrifices military life demands. He knows what it means to pack up a household and move a family from station to station with minimal notice, the pressure families face coordinating major moves around deployment cycles, and the stress of house hunting on a tight house-hunting-leave timeline while trying to understand a local market overnight.

Those experiences shaped how he views housing today. Moving is not just logistically demanding — it is deeply emotional. Transitioning out of uniform did not end his service; it shifted his mission toward guiding military families through those exact high-stakes moments.

Combining real estate market experience with his work as a loan officer, Cesar takes a full-spectrum approach to home financing. Because he has walked in your boots, you do not have to explain the realities of military life: he knows how to put the VA benefit to work, keeps communication clear and deadlines tight, and brings the same standard of integrity and effort whether you are executing a sudden PCS move, buying your first post-transition home, or building a portfolio through smart refinancing.

U.S. Army Veteran

Eulizes Montalvo

Mortgage Loan Originator

NMLS PENDING

Eulizes Montalvo is a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant who served 22 years before retiring in 2024. Today he works as a mortgage loan originator with Veterans Direct Mortgages, where he focuses on helping service members and veterans make informed decisions about homeownership.

His Army career gave him deep experience in leadership and administration, and those same skills shape how he approaches lending. He saw that many veterans and active-duty families struggle to move forward with a home purchase — not because they lack benefits, but because the process often feels confusing or poorly explained.

Eulizes works to change that. He takes time to walk clients through the full picture: how the VA loan actually works, what they can realistically afford, what costs to expect at closing, and which options fit their situation. The focus is on clear information and a practical plan, not just a quick pre-approval.

Outside of work, Eulizes is a husband and father. The values that guided him through more than two decades of military service — responsibility, preparation, and looking out for others — guide how he serves his clients and his family.

Our Promise

What veteran-led actually means

Veterans Serving Veterans

Our loan officers have worn the uniform or served the military community — PCS moves, BAH, and deployment timelines are lived experience, not training modules.

Straight Answers

You get the real numbers — rate, fee, payment, and whether the deal actually pencils — the way you'd want it from a fellow service member.

VA-First, Always

The VA loan isn't a product on our shelf; it's the mission. Every tool, page, and conversation here is built around maximizing the benefit you earned.

There After Closing

Rates drop? We flag your IRRRL moment. PCS orders? We help you run the rent-vs-sell math. A VA loan is a lifetime benefit — we treat the relationship the same way.

Working With Us

Four steps, zero runaround

01

Mission Brief

A straight conversation about where you are — duty station, timeline, entitlement, goals. No scripts, no pressure.

02

Real Numbers

Pre-approval with honest math: BAH counted, funding fee handled, payment you can trust when you write the offer.

03

Clear to Close

We run the file on PCS time — appraisal, underwriting, and the details that make VA deals land on schedule.

04

After the Keys

Rate drops flagged for your IRRRL. PCS-out rent-vs-sell math. The benefit is lifetime; so is the relationship.

Questions veterans ask us

Will I actually work with the person on this page?

Yes — the loan officer you choose is the person on your file, with their direct phone and email published right here. No call centers, no handoffs to strangers.

Does it cost anything to talk to the team?

No. Conversations, pre-approvals, and every calculator on this site are free. You pay nothing to find out exactly where you stand.

Can you help me if I'm still active duty?

Absolutely — much of our work is active-duty buyers using BAH to qualify, buying before PCS arrival on orders, or closing with a power of attorney mid-deployment.

What if I've been told 'no' before?

Bring us the file. The VA sets no minimum credit score, and residual-income underwriting often approves military families a bank's generic calculator turned away. If it doesn't pencil, we'll tell you straight — and tell you what would change the answer.

Put Us to Work

Start with the numbers, finish with a person

Run your scenario in our free VA loan calculators or find your duty station’s guide in VA loans by state — then bring the numbers to us and we’ll make them real.
